Who we are
Relaic is a research and early-stage product initiative focused on human-to-human communication intelligence. For the purposes of GDPR, the data controller is Relaic, based in Copenhagen, Denmark. You can reach us at hello@relaic.app.
If you have questions about how we handle your data, please contact us before reaching out to a supervisory authority — we will always try to resolve concerns directly and promptly.
Scope of this policy
This policy applies to all data collected through:
- The Relaic website and any future domains we operate.
- The research survey linked from or embedded in the website.
- Any direct email communication you initiate with us.
It does not apply to third-party websites or services we link to. We encourage you to read their privacy policies separately.
Research phase notice. Relaic is currently in a pre-launch research and development phase. No product is commercially available. Data collected at this stage is used solely to inform product design decisions.
What data we collect
Survey responses
When you complete our research survey, we collect:
- Demographic data — age range, gender identity (aggregate ranges only, not identifiable)
- Relationship data — status, duration (categorical only)
- Behavioural & attitudinal data — communication habits, attitudes toward AI, perceived challenges
- Open-text responses — potentially identifiable if you voluntarily include personal details
- Contact data — email address, only if you opt in for follow-up
We do not ask for your name, postal address, phone number, national ID, or financial information.
Technical data
Our hosting provider (Vercel) may collect limited server-level data: IP address (anonymised where possible), browser type, device type, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps. This is used solely for security and infrastructure — never for profiling.
Voluntary contact
If you email us directly, we collect the content and your email address, used solely to respond.
Why we collect it & legal basis
Under GDPR Article 6, every processing activity needs a legal basis:
- User research (survey responses) — Art. 6(1)(a), Consent
- Follow-up interviews (opt-in email) — Art. 6(1)(a), Consent
- Website operation & security (technical data) — Art. 6(1)(f), Legitimate interests
- Responding to enquiries (email) — Art. 6(1)(f), Legitimate interests
You may withdraw consent at any time — free and without justification — by emailing hello@relaic.app with the subject "Withdraw Consent". Because surveys are anonymous, we may need contextual details to locate a specific submission.
We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects (Art. 22).
How long we keep your data
- Survey responses — 24 months from collection
- Follow-up emails — 30 days after interview, or 90 days if no interview takes place
- Email enquiries — 12 months from last message
- Server logs — ~30 days (per Vercel's policy)
After the retention period, data is permanently deleted or irreversibly anonymised.
Who has access to your data
Data stays internal to the Relaic research team. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data — ever.
A limited number of service providers process data on our behalf, each bound by GDPR-compliant agreements: Vercel Inc. for hosting (certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework), and a secure form processor for survey and contact submissions. If a processor changes materially, we update this page.
International transfers
Where data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on EU Standard Contractual Clauses, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, or European Commission adequacy decisions. You may request a copy of the safeguards by contacting hello@relaic.app.
Your rights under GDPR
As a data subject in the EU/EEA, you can exercise these rights for free. We respond within 30 days (extendable by 60 for complex requests):
- Access — request a copy of your data (Art. 15)
- Rectification — correct inaccurate data (Art. 16)
- Erasure — request deletion (Art. 17)
- Restriction — pause processing (Art. 18)
- Portability — receive data in a machine-readable format (Art. 20)
- Object — object to legitimate-interest processing (Art. 21)
- Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting prior processing (Art. 7(3))
- Complain — lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77)

Cookies & analytics
We use only strictly necessary cookies. No advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or profiling analytics. Vercel may collect aggregate, anonymised page views that do not identify individuals.
If we introduce non-essential cookies in the future, we will implement a consent mechanism first.
Children's privacy
Relaic is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
When we make material changes, we update the date above, notify participants who provided an email where feasible, and seek fresh consent where required by law.
